Today I hand in my final portfolio! Hip Hip Hooray! It feels good to be done. Plus my apartment is now at a reasonable temperature. I don't know which one is better. Jk. Tonight Vanessa and I are going to Sex and the City 2 and I am SOOOO excited! But for now I will leave you with Ashley and Todd. You may recognize Ashley from some of my previous photos. After Vanessa and I photographed her with a few other girls from UMASS we found out she had a boyfriend so of course we set up a couples session for them! I really LOVE how these photos turned out.
The first photo is one I am using in my final portfolio.

Thursday
It has been a kind of crazy 24 hours. It all started yesterday around 1:00. My friend Bridget called and asked if I wanted to go swimming. Of course I said yes, I mean it was 90 degrees. So Bridget, me and a couple other girls went to the river and the spot where we were at was right by a huge bridge. So of course we jumped off this bridge, I mean how could we not? It was super fun, and definitely the highest bridge/rock I've ever jumped off. But we didnt stay long because Bridget hit the water like she was sitting so she immediately got blood bruises. Pretty funny. Jk Bridget. Not funny at all. The opposite of funny. So after she ruined the whole swimming/jumping for us, we all left. Ok now fast forward like 6 hours. It is about 10 and my apartment is probably close to 90 degrees in it. I was sweating just sitting there. WITH a fan two feet away from me pointed directly at me. So I drive to the school where there is air conditioning. So for those of you who aren't Hallmark students, you have to understand that the school is like a 2nd home to us. It is now open 24 hours and people stay there for days straight. I had read on facebook that a few other girls were going to the school to sleep so I was like "Brilliant!" So, I went. On my way there my gas light came on. I didn't bring any moneys with me. But that issue is a non-issue for now. So I get to the school and the weather turns all Twister on us. Us being the other 100 students and one instructor (the one and only Greg Heisler). The lightning and thunder were amazing, I guess there was hail, and the lights at the school were going CAHHHH-RAZY. Hopefully everyone there working clicked save before the power went out! So the power goes out. I guess it went out pretty much everywhere in Turners and Greenfield, except my apt! Yay! So after a while, I decided to hit the sack aka the rock hard floor in our little student/lunch area. Whatever, it didn't even matter because I WASN"T SWEATING. I think everyone can agree with me that trying to fall asleep while your hot is the worst. Unless your on vacation in Mexico and your laying out basking in the sun in a swimsuit with a pina colada on each side of you just in case you wake up and get thirsty. Ok, so after a little bit of tossing and turning and being woken up by a flashlight shining in my face, my alarm goes off. It is 6:30 am. I get up, get in my car to head back to my apt. to get ready for school. School? Were we going to have it? Hmm.... good question. But quickly forgotten because my gas light goes on again. And then I reallize there are detours everywhere because trees and power lines have fallen everywhere. So these nice power line workers direct me a different way to get to Greenfield. A way I've never gone. So I head that way and start panicking because I am not finding the Route 2 West sign they told me to look for. After a few miles of I find it. Thank God. So I get into Greenfield, get to my apt and I still haven't run out of gas. (Oh, fyi from my apt. to school is like a 15 minute drive, so that's why I was a bit worried about the whole gas thing). So right away I get a text from Bridget saying we don't have school and they aren't expecting to get power for A WEEK! What! A WEEK? Our final portfolios are due TOMORROW! I automatically start panicking again. I'm leaving next week. They just couldn't push back any due dates or portfolio reviews, I'm on a very strict schedule here people. So after a short nap and a peanut butter and fluff sandwich, I call Tammy, our school mama. She informs me she doesn't know what is going to happen, but she will keep me updated. I text Ashton and tell ask him why we just can't get a generator or something of that sort. He says he doesn't think they will find a generator as a "need". Tammy calls me an hour or so later. She leaves a message saying that a generator is on it's way from Boston and the school SHOULD have power this afternoon and everything else (final portfolio due date, portfolio reviews) will be on schedule. Thank goodness. Not only for everything for being on time but because I was right, Ashton wrong. So now I lay here, 2 feet away from a fan. I can't wait to call my dad, tell him about my electricity problems. I think I shall leave the jumping off the bridge and almost running out of gas out of our conversation.
Have a good day everyone :)

Environmental Portrait
So for my final portfolio I had to do an environmental portrait. That is just anybody in their environment. I am so glad that Vanessa hooked me up with Amanda because I had alot of fun photographing her with one of her many horses. Amanda shows horses in many states and travels for large periods of time doing this all year long. After photographing her and her horse it made me want a horse. And I am definitely not a horse lover. This has been one of my favorite sessions and I think I got alot of great pictures from it. The first picture is the one I am using in my final portfolio here at Hallmark.

I shot a bat mitzvah.
Hey all! Sorry for the lack of blogging lately. I've been super busy trying to finish up my final portfolio for school. But...I think I am finally done. I just have to talk to a few different teachers about the order and then burn a cd and drop files into a drop box. Wooooo!
So this past Saturday I had the opportunity to 2nd shoot my first bat mitzvah with the lovely Becca who graduated from Hallmark a few years ago. I have really enjoyed working with her this spring, she's so fun! I had a really good time trying to take pictures of people that showed there character/uniqueness. There were also some VERY good looking kids at this event. Sorry that sounds creepy, but you will know which "kid" I'm talking about haha.
So here are a few images from Saturday. This may just be part one, because I actually got quite a few good images!

Another cute little family!
Hey everyone! I have to say that I do love spring and the nice weather, but I definitely do not love my allergies! I think I have sneezed 42 times today. So here is the lovely Tomford family! They were awesome to photograph, despite the 50 mph winds we had to put up with! Thanks again, Kristin for being my lovely assistant!
